Winemaking
Creating award winning Kelly Family Vineyards wine is a four year process that starts in the vineyard, as we spend an entire year managing, hand tending, and refining the fruit.
When the grapes achieve the perfect combination of tannins, flavors, color, and natural sugars, we then harvest by hand in the coolness of the night so that the fruit is not damaged or compromised.
The wine then goes through crush and fermentation. It is then placed into a combination of new and used French and American Oak Barrels for a minimum of 18 months to get a prefect rounding and softness.
At the appropriate time, we then bottle the wine and move it to our climate controlled wine warehouse where it is bottle rested for a minimum of a year before we release it.
Therefore, Kelly Family Vineyards wine takes approximately four years to produce from the beginning of a new vintage until we release it for your enjoyment. This is the type of investment in time and quality that most other wineries are not wiling to do.
